At the Authentic Pilates Learning Center (APLC), education is approached with the highest level of rigor. Our lineage is direct and uninterrupted, ensuring results that only the original method can provide:
- 1st Generation:: Romana Kryzanowska, a direct disciple of Joseph Pilates, dedicated six decades to preserving and passing on the original method.
- 2nd Generation: Erica Almodovar and other Authentic Pilates master teachers were trained directly by Romana.
- 3rd Generation: By becoming certified through APLC, you become part of the 3rd generation of Joseph Pilates.

- Erica began her studies in Classical Pilates in 1999, under the direct supervision of Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo. She holds dual international certification from The New York Pilates Studio and Power Pilates (New York).

A 600-hour program designed as a clear, demanding, and progressive training path, structured into three levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced. This is not a quick or superficial certification. It is a comprehensive process that prepares students to teach with clarity and true understanding of the method.

Program Location
The certification is carried out in Barcelona, Spain, in an active professional environment where the method is practiced daily.
Students observe real classes, assist instructors, practice with peers, and begin teaching in an authentic and supervised setting. This ensures the method is learned not only in theory, but through deep practical integration.
Equipment & Technical Fidelity
We work exclusively with apparatus that follow the original designs of Joseph Pilates, from the brand Equipilates. This infrastructure is essential to truly “read” the body and apply the logic of the method in its full depth.

Admission Process
Program access is selective. A prior evaluation ensures the right technical level and maximizes your experience in the program.
Fill out the form with your personal details and previous Pilates experience. This is your first step toward the program.
Demonstrate your ability to perform Reformer and MAT at an intermediate level, plus basic exercises on other apparatus.
Erica Almodovar will contact you personally to schedule the evaluation and confirm your place in the program.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior Pilates experience?
Yes. The technical evaluation requires that you demonstrate a basic-to-intermediate level of proficiency. If you are a beginner, we recommend completing at least 35 hours of private lessons with an APLC-certified instructor before applying.
Can I participate if I live outside Spain?
Yes. The intensive modules are held in person in Barcelona. The online portion can be completed from anywhere. Many of our students travel specifically to attend the in-person modules.
What language are the classes taught in?
Classes are taught in Spanish and English. Erica also speaks Portuguese. The learning materials are available in multiple languages.
How are the 600 hours distributed?
The 600 hours are divided across the 4 in-person modules, monthly workshops, online study, session observation, and supervised practice throughout the 12-month program.
Is the certification internationally recognized?
Yes. The APLC certification is recognized in all countries where Erica has certified instructors, with a traceable and verifiable lineage that goes directly back to Joseph Pilates.
How many spots are available?
There are only 15 spots available to ensure high-quality individual attention. We recommend starting the application process well in advance.
